We are going for a RIDE!!!
When I started thinking about shooting pin up girls I had the best location in mind! A local amusement park in Erie, PA has been around for more than 100 years and still maintains a lot of history and original amusement park rides that provide the perfect background for vintage fun. We spent the day shooting five models all decked out in pin up rolls, classy dresses, and cute shoes. We made full use of the old school rides including the Scrambler, Spider, Carousel, Dodge ‘Ems, Tilt-a-Whirl, Sky Ride, kiddie rides, and played a few games. So much fun!
Growing up one of my favorite games to play at Waldameer was Ski-ball! So of course we had to visit the arcade, and these ended up being my favorite shots! Melissa, who is completely a Pin Up girl at heart, brought so many vintage props and clothes we never got to play with it all, but my favorite was the 1940’s Argoflex Camera! How perfect is that?!
My friend Tina is a roller derby girl with the Erie Roller Girls, so for her pictures we put a completely different spin on it. I totally loved her outfits, roller skates, tattoos, fishnets, and retro tatted high-heel shoes! All of that combined with her friends awesome motorcycle, the Pirates Cove, and the Wacky Shack made her pictures ROCK!
This last shot is probably my most favorite picture I’ve taken so far this year! Tina’s fiery red hair contrasts the bright blues of the Wacky Shack, her tats, and eyes perfectly. She has such a fierce edge to her that is uniquely attractive. I never knew how much beauty was under that hair!
We all had so much fun with this photo shoot and can’t wait to do it again!
Special thanks go out to Jess Trypus for styling the girl’s hair and make-up. They looked great!
